In the COA Procedures , ATS states that "schools conducting distance education must have a process by which the institution establishes that the student who registers in a distance education course or program is the same student who participates in and completes the program and receives the academic credit by use of secure login and pass code, proctored examinations or other means that are effective in verifying student identity and protecting student privacy."

We use a secure login and pass code but I was wondering what other steps schools might be taking in this area?

At United we have the same concerns. We looked into a company called Acxiom that would give us more security, but the price is a factor. We could implement a program like Western Governors has but a tests are primarily written essays. The system they use is contracted with a 3rd party company that documents the typing of a signature, photo of the student and verifies a photo whenever the student is taking an exam.
